My Dear Mr. Murray
It will be
better for Mr
Clowes to send
the sheets first
to me as I find
that Mr. Binney
is often puzzled
much by what
my correction makes
quite clear. It will
sa[ve] him much
trouble. He wont
believe that this
type is not to
be used the expense
will be so
great. He likes
the type much
Is it really to
be recom
posed again ?
13
Mr B is very well
pleased to assist
me in any way .
I have now sent
over to him two
corrected pieces
Tell Mr Clowes
that every where
Bakwains is
to be spelled thus
B a k w a i n s
B a m a n g w a t o
B a n g w a k e t z e
Caffres. I have
changed my mind
on the word, &
now make them
uniform . — Send
for No. IX when
you need it — And
let me have some
of the red ink man's
work that I
may correct in
manuscript. I
have others for
him.
14
I want a small
Portuguese and
English dictionary
there is one pocket
one with clear
type which is
very good. I have
forgot the name
but it is less
in size than this
note paper considerably
and thick
I have curtailed
The Caffre war
subject and
sweetened it
Have you a
business correspond
ent in Boston
I want to send
a little money
there by & bye
You have I suppose
closed with the
15
American offer you
mentioned
I am &c.
D. Livingstone
A good likeness
of a bushwoman
with a bundle
of ostrich egg
shells exists in
a collection at
the Duchess of
Sutherland's and
may have it
if you should
like it. Of course
you would
require to go with
me and see it
first
