10d September 1841.
My Dear Elizabeth.
I have been wearing very much to
hear from you, I hope you got safely to Sheraton and have
been well since, I have very little to write about, things
are going on much in the same way as when you were
down, grandmother is spinning but she has been scarcely
as well for two or three days, little William is well and sleeping
at present, and you know he occupies a great part of my
time, I dont know how to do in regard to my servants I am
afraid in changing I may get worse, but if you hear of any
you may let me know, I am not afraid to leave the child
with either of them, I once thought of engaging Mary and
getting a younger one, but I would like to have your opinion
as I am a little afraid of her not being pushing enough, and I would
like you to arrange matters with Uncle James respecting your
[¿], and let them get a servant who can manage the washing and
dressing, so that you can come and stay with me, and you may
visit them ocasionally and arrange things, i will only say that
it will add greatly to my comfort to have you beside me,
I wish you to come down soon, and you will perhaps get
a few lines sent with John who will carry this and a
few apples to you tomorrow.
Your affectionate Sister
Mary Mather.
