I hear that My Ld. Montrose
has sent an addreſs to be sign'd by
the gentlemen of dumbarton, it was
perhaps not very proper that he
should have made any debate who
should be the first mover of it in the
ſhire; & it being upon so neceſsary
an occasion as to aſsure the Queen
of their loyalty, it is fitting that my
brothers friends joyn in it, but in such
A manner as it may not appear to be
by the influence of others, Robin Campbell
will write to you of this more att
large, I design to be in your Country
very soon, in the mean time I dont doubt
but you will dispose every thing as well as
you can for my brothers interest; I can
aſsure you there is nothing I long for
more than to have an opportunity of
showing you how readie I am to do you
