Minutes of meeting 2139 held on Thursday 25th January 2001, Room327, John Anderson Building, University of Strathclyde.

Apologies were received on behalf of [CENSORED: forename][CENSORED: surname], [CENSORED: forename][CENSORED: surname], [CENSORED: forename][CENSORED: surname], [CENSORED: forename][CENSORED: surname] (hip replacement), [CENSORED: forename][CENSORED: surname], [CENSORED: forename][CENSORED: surname], [CENSORED: forename][CENSORED: surname] and [CENSORED: forename][CENSORED: surname].
Minutes: were on the table
President’s Intimations: Competition Entries would be due on 8th Feb. Notes on the rules and Trophies were on the table for those interested.
Secretary: Payment for the Social Evening and items for the Silent Auction would be welcomed from now on. Our auction lists (375 lots ) available and well presented thanks to [CENSORED: forename][CENSORED: surname]. Viewing would be on Competition Night. A volunteer to man the barrier on 15th Feb. was required.
Treasurer: Absent
Packet Secretary: All was going well. Please remember to sign the front of the books.
Librarian: Nothing to report
Delegate to Congress: There would be a meeting in Edinburgh on the 28th.
Display: ‘Clydesdale’ by Dr [CENSORED: forename][CENSORED: surname], Lanarkshire.
1st Round: Dr [CENSORED: surname] began by saying that the collection had developed over the last eight years. He had brought along general material, rather than restricting the display to postal history, to make the evening of more general interest. He started with an 1864 map of the area and then went on to show a very fine selection of material comprising postal history, cancellations, instructional markings, postcards etc. The towns were presented alphabetically from Abington to Hazelbank and the International Aviation Meeting
2nd Round: The second round was in similar vein and went from Junction (Carstairs) to the ZCF code for Crawford
Vote of Thanks: Before the vote of thanks, the President announced that Dr [CENSORED: surname] had applied for membership of the Society and his application was on the table. This was greeted with acclaim. [CENSORED: forename][CENSORED: surname], in giving the vote of thanks, complimented Dr [CENSORED: surname] on his display. There were some very fine and scarce items. Indeed some were unique. The success of the evening was obvious from the interest that the members had shown and again congratulated Dr [CENSORED: surname] for doing so well with his ‘home’ area.
Next Meeting: Thursday 1st February 2001, ‘The Spanish Civil War’ by [CENSORED: forename][CENSORED: surname].
