Rallying to the cry,
are tourists, already armed
by Baedecker and Michelin.
Serried hills stand to attention,
ready to brave the onslaught;
confident of victory,
Torridon disdains drab battledress,
strutting instead in its pink and green
heavily braided with waterfalls.
Camouflaged eucalyptus defend Inverewe;
handkerchief trees wave timid surrender
while rhododendrons hurl defiance
in pennons of scarlet.
