Painstakingly transcribes every detail
Onto stream-feinted vellum hills:
Thick-nibbed oaks blend into fine-drawn birch;
Italic reeds edge cobalt water;
And a flourish of ferns curlicue lower slopes.
Each valley a font of wisdom
In this palimpsest land
Where new growth overwrites
Last season’s cull;
A gorse-illumined manuscript
Preaching Nature’s gospel.
