Text

Langsyne fowk killt the winter mart,
Byled puddens in the pan,
Fin deein birks an hingin saughs
Drapt leaves alang the lan.

St Martin watches howfs an drouths
Wi Bacchus at his airm;
The swalla quats the frostit eaves -
Yon's flittin time at term.

Reid poppies bloom on ilkie briest
Fin Samhuinn rules the mist;
The waukrife Deid gar ye takk heed
Fa quit the rottit kist.

Sae step aside an let thaim pass,
The itherwardly fey;
Fur Jacob's laidder's thrang wi wings
On guid St Martin's day.
