We'd look doon here tae where we're stood
Like twa braw trees in a widd -
Oor fruit, the handsome berry!
For in the past whan winds wid blaw
An smoory wis the fell snaw
An the sullen rains widna gang awa,
I cudna hairst the berry.
Bit noo, Love loves you an me;
Life's green an dancin like a tree;
Naethin will wither what's tae be -
Oor love'll bring us plenty.
Though Time'll try wi dolefu grey
Tae mak a mockery o today,
We'll hae, o'er Time, the final say -
This pledge, oor Love's bricht berry!
