Text BUSINESS BULLETIN No. 1/1999 Wednesday 12th May 1999 Meeting of the Parliament 9.30 am Members’ Oaths and Affirmations 2.30 pm Election of the Presiding Officer, followed by Election of deputy Presiding Officers It is expected that the Parliament will break for lunch at or around 12.30 pm and will resume at 2.15 pm, allowing time, if required, for completion of members’ oaths and affirmations. Section B - Announcements Business Bulletin 1/1999 Wednesday 12th May 1999 Section B Announcements First meeting of the Parliament Election of the Presiding Officer and deputy Presiding Officers Members will be able to submit nominations for the election of the Presiding Officer to the Clerk in the Chamber Office on the ground floor of Parliament Headquarters, between 12.30 pm and 2.15 pm only on Wednesday 12th May. Nomination forms will be available from the Chamber Office during this period. Nominees must be proposed and seconded by members who have taken the oath or have affirmed. The nominee should sign the nomination form and must have taken the oath or affirmed prior to the election commencing. Nominations for deputy Presiding Officers may only be submitted following the election of the Presiding Officer. The period during which nominations may be submitted will be announced by the Presiding Officer and the sitting will be adjourned for this purpose. Members should note that in this case, nomination forms may be obtained from, and require to be submitted to, the Clerk in the Presiding Officer’s room in the Assembly Hall. This office is accessed via the black and white corridor in the Assembly Hall Building and will be clearly signposted. Nominations for the deputy Presiding Officers must be seconded. Both the proposer and seconder must have taken the oath or affirmed prior to the nomination being made. The nominee must have taken the oath or affirmed by the time of the election. The nominee should sign the nomination form. Official Photograph Following the close of the meeting, an official photograph of all members who have taken the oath or have affirmed by that time will be taken in the Chamber to mark the historic occasion of the first meeting of the Scottish Parliament.
