SCOTS Project - www.scottishcorpus.ac.uk Document : 877 Title : Correspondence from Canada: Letter 29 - 26.01.82 Author(s): 852 Copyright holder(s): Name withheld Text The Maggie 26 Jan. Dear Mum & Dad, Another letter, so soon. Just a quick note to accompany these photos, the [CENSORED: surname] sent me. They're largely duplicates of ones I took myself. Nothing of great import has happened today. I had a good Chaucer seminar - I like Prof. [CENSORED: surname] and I'm glad he'll be my supervisor. He's knowledgable, good on language, and he's got a nice sense of humour. I got a letter from Al, and one from the American Uni. in Cairo acknowledging my application and application fee. They don't have my transcript from Glasgow Uni yet, and I was wondering if you could get Al to check if they've sent it. She should go to the Records & Examinations office in the quad near the cloisters and give them my full name, that I graduated M.A. with 1st Class Hons. in July 1981 (Scots & Eng. Lit.) and possibly given them my student n°. which was [CENSORED: number]. If they haven't sent a transcript out, or didn't receive my letter, they should send a full transcript of my complete university record to [CENSORED: address]. The recent air crashes have been worrying. The photo looking down at the Lincoln Memorial from the Washington Monument, looks out over the Potomac River and I think the airport's on the left. Boston airport too is a lovely airport, and I flew in just by the water - it's so close. So far the ice on the wings has been blamed, but rumours are going around that the air traffic controllers who replaced the strikers may not have been wholly competent. Anyway, I'm glad Carole's coming here when it's warmer. So, keep up the good cheer! It was payday today so I'm back in the black. I saw my 1st Canadian $100 bill, which I rushed to the bank and deposited!! Give my best to all, Love, [CENSORED: forename] This work is protected by copyright. All rights reserved.
