Thomas Crawford's Diary, 1825
“We were becalmed”
Entry for 11/06/1825
Saturday 11th. June. The swallow was found this morning in one of the cabins, unable to fly, & in a short time afterwards was found dead. The weather was very beautiful the wind much in the same direction as it has been for some days previous. Towards the evening we were becalmed, and it became very foggy.
