“Porpoises were seen playing about the ship”

Entry for 14/06/1825

Tuesday 14th June. The wind quite fair, & the ship sailing very smooth with little motion. The weather very beautiful and pleasant on deck. Towards the afternoon a flock of porpoises were seen playing about the ship; and before going to bed I went on deck; and saw the porpoises swimming on the surface of the water; they formedas it were a stream of light on the water.
