“A pretty sharp rate”

Wednesday 13th July. Smart breeze and we sailed at a pretty sharp rate. About mid-day put upon another tack. Capt. Crear did not have the top of the table as he was unwell but was succeeded by Mr. Dudgeon; neither Mr. Little the Surgeon, nor Mr. McLachlan were at dinner on accot. of being ill.
