Apologies: were received on behalf of [CENSORED: forename][CENSORED: surname], [CENSORED: forename][CENSORED: surname], [CENSORED: forename][CENSORED: surname]. Minutes: unavailable President’s Intimations: The president congratulated all those who had competed and those who had given invited displays at Glasgow 2000. A list of awards and displays is attached. Mention was also made of the Christmas Meeting. [CENSORED: forename][CENSORED: surname] was sponsor for the evening and spouse and partners would be most welcome. Secretary: auction lots were coming in quite well but more were required. [CENSORED: forename][CENSORED: surname] was holding a fair at the Woodside Halls on January 3rd. Those appearing with his ‘double’ advert would be granted free admission. A letter from [CENSORED: forename][CENSORED: surname], Chairman of Glasgow 200, was read out. In it Mr [CENSORED: surname] thanked all who had contributed in any way – no matter how small – to making Glasgow 2000 the great success it had turned out to be. Treasurer: Nothing to report. Packet Secretary: The PS pleaded for members to abide by the rules. Some had mixed up advice notes from different packets – this obviously led to confusion and difficulty when it came to ‘balancing the books’. Librarian: Nothing to report. Delegate to Congress: Nothing to report. Display: The President introduced Mr [CENSORED: forename][CENSORED: surname], author of Scots on Stamps, and invited him to give his display. Before he began, Mr [CENSORED: surname] presented the society with a cover (suitably mounted) addressed to Miss [CENSORED: forename][CENSORED: surname] the Society’s first lady president. The cover dated 8 Nov 1935 had the first Scottish airmail receiving cachet applied. The cover’s journey being Slough-Croydon-Renfrew. Mr [CENSORED: surname] began his display by saying that he looked on it not as a thematic, but more of a country collection. It was divided into various aspects of Scottish life and history. These are described in the notes supplied by Mr [CENSORED: surname] and attached herewith.
