MINUTES
13th Meeting, 2002 (Session 1)

The meeting opened at 2.00 pm.


1. Declaration of Interest: Rhona Brankin declared her interests relevant to the remit of the Committee.

2. Overview of the National Health Service in Scotland: The Committee noted the letter from Mr Trevor Jones, Chief Executive of NHS Scotland. The Committee also noted the letter from Mr Frank Owens, Chairman of the Scottish Pharmaceutical General Council and requested that the Auditor General for Scotland monitor progress on the issues raised. The Committee agreed to consider progress on these issues as part of its inquiry into the next report by the Auditor General on an Overview of the NHS in Scotland.

3. Review of the Management of Waiting Lists in Scotland (in private): The Committee received a further paper clarifying aspects of the Scottish Executive’s action plan in response to the Auditor General’s report. The Committee decided not to proceed with an inquiry at this time but agreed to review progress on this issue as part of its inquiry into the next report by the Auditor General on an Overview of the NHS in Scotland.


The meeting closed at 2.17 pm.
