Fan I cam back (faith, a'm still lackin sleep)
the kiss a got wis lik frost on a neep –
caal, nae relish, lik a deid man's haun:
a kiss lik her breether got fae chaste Diane,
or lik some granny gies til her favourite quine,
or a fiancée doles oot fan her man taes the line.
Naither juicy nor tasty nor nithin ataa.
His ma lip gane as bitter as aa that, wee cra?
Weel, ye'll jist hae t' ging t' tak lessons wi doos:
aa lovey-dovey on stumps or heich boos.
Wi their wee beakies tit-tittin lang an fine.
On bendit knee a'm implorin ye quine,
for slabbery kisses (richt up t' the hilt)
fan we jine thegither;
or leav't weel alane (nae marra intil't)
till warmer wither.
