Entry for 08/10/1825
Saturday 8th. Went up to the Barracks to see the Soldier of the 40th. who was washing a couple pairs of trousers for me; I saw [?] who took me to see the Barracks, & on going into the Sergeant’s house, I was astonished to see the cleanness & neatness of the house. There was a fine stout boy sitting at the fires side, & was told that he was a twin; I gave him 2/6 for my Father’s sake recollecting that my Father was a twin.
