Minutes of meeting 2131 on Thursday 2 November 2000. Room 327, John Anderson Building, University of Strathclyde.

Apologies were received on behalf of [CENSORED: forename][CENSORED: surname], [CENSORED: forename][CENSORED: surname], [CENSORED: forename][CENSORED: surname], [CENSORED: forename][CENSORED: surname], [CENSORED: forename][CENSORED: surname], [CENSORED: forename][CENSORED: surname].

[CENSORED: forename][CENSORED: surname] was welcomed as a new member and given a ‘Welcome Pack’ by the President.

Minutes: were on the table.

President’s Intimations: Application for Membership from Mr [CENSORED: forename][CENSORED: surname] (1st reading).

Secretary: Events Sheet and form for Glasgow 2000 souvenirs. The Vera Trinder order book was available at the front. Notice of the Lanarkshire P.S. Fair and Exhibition 3 February 2001. Tables at bourse – please see [CENSORED: forename][CENSORED: surname]. A new booklet on Scottish Rail commemorative covers was available – £1.

Treasurer: not present.

Packet secretary: There was now a packet in circulation. He had lots of good material in hand and this would soon be circulated.

Librarian: nothing to report.

Delegate to Congress: The delegate reminded members of the previous week’s items.

President, [CENSORED: forename][CENSORED: surname], then introduced a visiting team from Largs Stamp Club led by [CENSORED: forename][CENSORED: surname] who was accompanied by Messrs. [CENSORED: forename][CENSORED: surname] and [CENSORED: forename][CENSORED: surname]. Mr [CENSORED: forename][CENSORED: surname] who had been unable to be with us sent a display.

Mr [CENSORED: forename][CENSORED: surname] gave good tidings from Largs saying that they were now known as a Stamp Club. They had gained three members since changing from a ‘Philatelic Society’. He then invited Mr [CENSORED: forename][CENSORED: surname] to give his display. This proved to be a most interesting display on India covering many aspects. Schind Dalks, East India stamps, Railway Mail travelling and static handstamps, stamps of the various states and stamps overprinted and used abroad.

Mr [CENSORED: forename][CENSORED: surname] then presented Mr [CENSORED: forename][CENSORED: surname]’s display – Postal Markings “In the Land o’ Burns”. Small monochrome prints of Ayrshire paintings by David Octavius Hill were matched by early postal markings relevant to the locations depicted.

After the interval, Mr [CENSORED: forename][CENSORED: surname] presented “The German Occupation of Poland 1939-45”. This comprised of Postal Stationery cancelled by commemorative postmarks of the General Government. All of superb quality of production and covering all aspects of life and culture. Mr [CENSORED: forename][CENSORED: surname] stated that all were quite difficult to obtain.

The evening finished with Mr [CENSORED: forename][CENSORED: surname] showing “World Jamborees”. He gave a short history of Scouting and the development of the movement was shown by early Camp covers. included were relevant photographs and Official badges. We were also shown Postal Stationery, a wooden postcard and Miniature and Souvenir sheets.

[CENSORED: forename][CENSORED: surname] gave the vote of thanks. He congratulated Largs S.C. on giving such a fine and varied selection of displays and warmly thanked them for visiting us.
